Magnetic loading of magnetars’ flares

چکیده

ABSTRACT Magnetars, the likely sources of fast radio bursts, produce both steady highly relativistic magnetized winds and occasional ejection events. We demonstrate that requirement conservation magnetic flux dominates overall dynamics explosions. This is missed in conventional hydrodynamic models ejections as expanding shell with parametrically added field, well one-dimensional disturbances. Magnetic explosions from magnetars come into force balance pre-flare wind close to light cylinder. They are then advected quietly or propagate electromagnetic No powerful shock waves generated wind.

Magnetic Deformation of Magnetars for the Giant Flares of the Soft Gamma-Ray Repeaters

We present one possible mechanism for the giant flares of the Soft GammaRay Repeaters (SGRs) within the framework of magnetar, i.e., superstrongly magnetized neutron star model, motivated by the positive period increase associated with the August 27 event from SGR 1900+14. We assume that the global reconfiguration of the internal magnetic field suddenly occurs. Then, the shape of the star is de...

Magnetars ’ Giant Flares : the case of SGR 1806 - 20

We first review on the peculiar characteristics of the bursting and flaring activity of the Soft Gamma-ray Repeaters and Anomalous Xray Pulsars. We then report on the properties of the SGR 1806-20’s Giant Flare occurred on 2004 December 27th, with particular interest on the pre and post flare intensity/hardness correlated variability. We show that these findings are consistent with the picture ...

Evolution of the magnetic field in magnetars

We use numerical MHD to look at the stability of a possible poloidal field in neutron stars (Flowers & Ruderman 1977), and follow its unstable evolution, which leads to the complete decay of the field. We then model a neutron star after the formation of a solid crust of high conductivity. As the initial magnetic field we use the stable ‘twisted torus’ field which was the result of our earlier w...

TeV-PeV Neutrinos from Giant Flares of Magnetars and the Case of SGR 1806-20

We estimate the high energy neutrino flux from the giant flare of SGR 180620 on December 27, 2004, which irradiated Earth with a gamma-ray flux ∼ 10 times larger than the most luminous gamma-ray bursts (GRBs) ever detected. The Antarctic Cherenkov neutrino detector AMANDA was on-line during the flare, and may either have detected high energy neutrinos for the first time from a cosmic point sour...

Magnetic Deformation of Atoms in the Crust of Magnetars

Some special features of magnetically deformed multi-electron atoms in the crustal region of strongly magnetized neutron stars (magnetars) are studied with the relativistic version of semi-classical Thomas-Fermi model. An analytical solution of Poisson’s equation with cylindrical symmetry is obtained. The variation of atomic dimension with magnetic field strength is also studied. An expression ...
